R-S Mtn Shadow Rock
2007 WHEAT STATE MORGAN HORSE SHOW ![]()
A Step Above The Rest
"The Hunter Pleasure division was very deep at the show. All of the classes filled, with 17 classes offered in the division.
Topping the field was the Open Hunter Champion, R-S Mtn Shadow Rock and trainer Joyce Swanson for owners Susan O'Brian and Jane Dumler.
Joyce is known for successfully matching the Morgan to his appropriate division, and she picked the perfect division for Shadow Rock.
His curvy lines, lofty gaits, and demure transitions put him to the top of Judge Lockwood's cards in the championship as well as the maiden." Santa Barbara at the Gold Medallion Joyce Swanson made the long trip from Colorado worthwhile with her first victory aboard Jane Drumley and Susan O'Brian's horse "R-S Mtn Shadow Rock" in the novice horse class. Joyce is very soft with her horses and it shows in their enjoyment of their discipline. He also placed 2nd in the Hunter Pleasure Ladies 15.1h and over and 2nd in First Level Dressage Test 1
"Shadow" has size, correct Morgan conformation, attitude and a beautiful big kind eye. We are very pleased to announce that we currently offer frozen semen from Shadow. Please email or call for more details. He is a true gentlemen with people and with his mares.
In the spring of 2001 as a 4 year old he began training in dressage with Sally Anderson. By fall he had an average show score of 69.6% at Training Level, placing him 2nd with the USDF Breed Awards Program, AMHA Open Competion Program, and the Morgan Dressage Association awards Program at Training Level. Many judges could not believe he was a Morgan! Since then he has been home breeding a few of our mares as well as outside mares from Montana to Colorado. He will be back in dressage training in the spring of 2004 and will also be available for breeding via live cover and shipped frozen semen. Wherever Shadow goes, he receives much attention because of his great attitude, size and beauty. As a two year old in early spring (he had already bred his first mare) we took him to a Stallion review with his sire R-Two Rocky Rhode, our Senior Stallion, to show folks what Rocky produces. During this time a young girl kept coming to visit him. While we were talking to her parents, she climbed the rails and was hanging on his neck. He just stood there very calm and waited for us to get her down. The parents were so impressed by this young stallion they ended up being great customers and friends. We have several fillies here at home who are very much like him - beautiful and tall with personality plus. They will follow in their sire's footsteps in either dressage or eventing. We have had some great comments about Shadow's get, such as "I am so pleased! This filly is what I have been breeding for all my Morgan years". Please call or email
