Testimonials
My fingers have just been itching to share with you my visit with Roger
and Sylvia Peterson and the newest addition to our "family". I know
Sylvia put a post out there about our purchase of RS Mtn Santana Rock,
now I get to tell you all about their horses.
Met Roger and Sylvia by these Morgan Lists, it is so great to met the
people you "chat" with and I would like to thank them both for the
wonderful hospitality and warmth they extended to me. If you ever have
the chance to visit them, they live is a beautiful area with 'see for
mile views', mountains and great riding places.
The story started with a mare that I contracted to breed to their
stallion, "Shadow", then one mare turned into three and off they all
went to Montana! I had never really seen their horses in "the flesh",
just off of videos and pics, but I have looked at lots of videos and
what I saw, I really liked. 'Course, needed to see my 'girls', so after
a bit I took a trip to Montana for a few days.
I should mention here that I have been on a "stallion" hunt for a little
while now, and of course as you know I purchased RS Mtn Santana Rock or
as we call him SanTo Videos don't always match up to reality, so I
always have lower expectations than what I see on the video. Well, in
this case their horses not only met my expectations, but exceeded them!
Horses with great minds, straight correct legs, good bone, correct
conformation, three great gaits (overstepping walks, long floaty trots
and balanced correct canter) AND size. Not only that, but I saw it
reproduced over and over in their foals. They are "people" horses too,
you can walk intq the herd(s) and they will come up for a hello and
pat/scratch, but not get pushy/kicky.
Course, SanT has all those qualities, plus he has the biggest soft eye
and great temperament. You know he is good when it is feeding time and
all the other "herds" have been fed and here comes this crazy lady with
her camera wanting to take pics before the sun goes down. So Roger,
being his accommodating great self, puts a halter on SanT and leads him
out of the pasture. SanT of course, can't figure out why the feeds not
coming and where he is going? So he stops and looks at Roger like "are
you sure this is right?". Then calmly goes on and stands quietly while
I take pics, never once being anxious about "feeding time". I'm gonna
have SO much fun!!
But, beyond the fun, SanT will be a foundation sire for our breeding
program. Another great benefit of visiting the Petersons' was that I
was able to see both SanT's sire, dam, full brothers and sister. Also a
filly out of SanT's full brother, Shadow (who SanT looks just like).
All the qualities I am looking for being reproduced consistently and I
could see it in three generations of horses!
The Petersons are keeping SanT at their place for me until I figure out
WHERE in the state I'll be living (trying to sell house and build). At
this point it is the best place for SanT and I know he is well taken
care of, but I am looking forward to when I can bring him home to
Colorado.
I would like to thank Roger and Syl. I know they were not
intending on/selling SanT, and I appreciate their vote of confidence in
my providing him a good home. I feel like not only have I gained a great
horse, I have made two wonderful friends.
